Karl TaniGraphic designer

Trained at UCLA, Karl’s career has included work for various ad agencies in Los Angeles, Tulsa, San Diego and Santa Fe’s noted designer Alexander Girard. As an educator he has taught at the Indian School in Santa Fe, and at Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College for over 15 years. Currently he freelances for the City of Torrance and others and is the in-house designer for Hoson House’s publicity materials.

For him, being a creative person involves all his senses, impacting many aspects of daily life. Hoson House was a natural magnet of interest, incorporating music and visual art. Photography helps focus on details for his work, both commercial and personal. Combining and manipulating images in Photoshop has lead to this current exhibit – “Reflections,” which runs until March 30. The choice of images in these compositions is mostly narrative, influenced by his training as a graphic designer to communicate ideas visually. It is up to the viewer to interpret the ideas.
